Isolation of 4'-Hydroxyechinenone from Micrococcus roseus

ABSTRACT

The carotenoid 4'-hydroxyechinenone (4'-hydroxy-ß, ß-carotene-4-one) was isolated from Micrococcus roseus. It is proposed as an intermediate between echinenone and canthaxanthin.
