Orthophosphate Requirement for the Formation of Phosphoenolpyruvate from Pyruvate by Enzyme Preparations from Photosynthetic Bacteria

ABSTRACT
The formation of phosphoenolpyruvate from pyruvate and adenosine 5'-triphosphate by enzymes from photosynthetic bacteria required inorganic phosphate, thus indicating that these organisms utilize pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase rather than phosphoenolpyruvate synthase in photosynthesis.
