A clone from Brucella abortus 19 complemented an Escherichia coli strain
deficient in phosphorylation of glucose. Open reading frames similar to E.
coli mepA, glk, and genes encoding ATP-coupled exporters were found in the
sequence. A fourth affected growth on minimal media of the ptsI glk strain
with various carbon sources.
