The arylsulfatase gene from Campylobacter jejuni 81-176 encodes a predicted
protein of 69,293 Da which shows no sequence similarity with other known
arylsulfatases. The gene hybridizes to other Ast+ strains of C. jejuni and
Campylobacter sputorum subsp. bubulus, as well as to many Ast- strains of
C. jejuni.
