   Abstract

The folA gene was identified as a new member of the TyrR regulon by genomic SELEX. Binding of TyrR to two sites in folA activated its transcription. Mutations in the N-terminal or central domains of TyrR, the {alpha}-subunit of RNA polymerase or IHF all abolished activation of the folA promoter.
