About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover photograph (Copyright © 2007, American Society for Microbiology. All Rights Reserved.): Proposed active-site structure for Pseudomonas fluorescens 2-nitrobenzoate nitroreductase NbaA, where green and cyan ribbons represent the two chains in the active NbaA homodimer. The 2-nitrobenzoate substrate (sticks, magenta carbon atoms) stacks against an FMN cofactor (sticks, yellow carbon atoms) that is anchored to the enzyme via a bivalent metal ion (magenta sphere) and engages in hydrogen bond interactions (dashed yellow lines) with several NbaA residues (sticks, green/cyan carbon atoms). The image was generated using PyMOL. (See related article on page 3502.)
