Cover photograph: View from three different angles of the cytoplasmic domain of RbdA anchored in the inner membrane of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. RbdA, a bifunctional protein that regulates dispersal of P. aeruginosa biofilms, is a dimeric protein that contains a PAS domain–GGDEF-EAL dual domain that can synthesize/hydrolyze c-di-GMP, a second messenger whose abundance controls biofilm dispersal. The PAS domain is in green, the GGDEF domain is in cyan, and the EAL domain that hydrolyzes c-di-GMP is in red. GTP and c-di-GMP are shown as sticks.
